REQUIREMENTS

Hosting requirements

There are some requirements which web hosting need to be met to install successfully:

MySQL Database

You’ll need access to a MySQL database, create a blank database.

Upload file to server

In order to transfer files to your server, you can use a FTP client or upload zip file and extract it in your hosing control panel. 
 

INSTALLATION

With these requirements met, and files are uploaded, we are ready to install PageFlex.
Now please access the PageFlex installation through your web browser by entering the address of your site, for example http://www.example.com

Step 1

In this initial step, please check if following folders are writiable or not:

If they are not writiable, please change the permission.

Step 2

In this step, please input all needed information of your PageFlex website:

 
Other configurations can be set later in the backend.

Step 3

PageFlex is now installed! You must remove the installation directory, this needs to be removed for security reasons to prevent anyone else from coming along and reinstalling PageFlex over your existing site.

After the installation, in order to see all plugins with demo data, you can install Demo Data with following steps:

Step 1: Login to administration page.

Step 2: Go to Demo Data plugin:

Step 4: Refresh the page:

After installation of demo data is finished, you will see the notification in the bottom of the page:

After that, please refresh the page, all plugins with their demo data will be shown:

Signing in

1. Open your favorite web browser and go to following URL:
http://www.mydomain.com/admin
 
2. Input your administrator username and password which you create in the installation.

Dashboard is the default page when you login backend site.

Page is a very important part of PageFlex. All parts of our CMS will be displayed in Pages.
General users will like the simple Word-like (WYSIWYG) editor, more technical users will love that they can add their own SEO, CSS and JavaScript. In PageFlex,  you can create content however you like. PageFlex can take you by the hand, or let you go all out.


When you create a new page, there are some fields which need to pay attention:

At the moment, we have only one System Page. It's user page.
System page can not be seen in Page Management, so you can not change it.

If you want to change its layout, please change System Layout in Layout Management.

Post in an administrative plugin of PageFlex. It consists of 2 parts:

Comment settings

There are some settings for user which you can find in Configuration -> Settings -> Comments settings:

Email templates

If you enable Comment Approval, an email will be sent to approver everytime there is a new comment.
And you can edit this email content in Configuration -> Email templates -> Comment.

Shortcode

You can add comment in any page by adding following shortcode:

xxxx is the key defined by you and it should be different in each comment shortcode. Example:

Note: In Post, we add comment shortcode by default. If you don't want comment in post, please disable it in Post Settings.

With the Portfolio plugin you can create a unique page for displaying portfolio items consisting of images and additional information. Moreover you can add as many custom fields as you like.

Announcement is a administrative plugin.
This plugin is used by Admin only.
With this plugin, Admin can create announcement which will be shown to a group of user or a specific user.

In FAQ Management, you can create as many FAQ as you like. Each FAQ can have many items.

PageFlex Contact Forms is an interesting feature. With the PageFlex contact form, you can generate any kind of web form, which will be validated automatically and either sent via e-mail.

There are some fields which you need to pay attention while creating Contact Form:

  • Items: on Contact Form, you can add many types of item. And each item will have many options:
    • Input text
    • Email
    • URL
    • Number

    • Acceptance
    • Captcha: you need to enable reCaptcha in setting to use this item.
    • Button
  • ​Form:  when you choose to add an item, it will be shown on Form. Form can use HTML format.
  • To: is the email address which will receive the email from Contact Form.
  • From: is the email address which will display in email sender.
  • Sending successfully notification: it is the message which is shown to sender after sending is finished.
  • Message: is the content of email which you will receive from sender.

For example, you add an email item, and name it "email-contact". In message, please add

The Media Manager is the tool for easily managing media files or folders and you can configure the MIME type settings to handle any type of file. The Media Manager is integrated into the Article Editor tool so you can grab images and other files at any time.

PageFlex uses Responsive File Manager version 9.6.0 which is very easy to use.
Thank you Mr. Alberto Peripolli for allowing us to use his awesome File Manager in this CMS.

Comment settings

There are some settings for user which you can find in Configuration -> Settings -> Media settings:

  • Path:  this is the path to media directory. By the fault is uploads/media/
  • Maximum size of upload file (MB): you can define maximum size of upload file here
  • Image file extention (jpg, png, gif...): you can define Image file extention here
  • Audio file extention (mp3, ogg, wav...): you can define audio file extention here
  • Video file extention file(mp4, mov, mpeg...): you can define video file extention here
  • Document file extention: you can define document file extention here
  • Misc file extention: you can define misc file extention here
  • Hidden folder (do not remove: thumbnails): if you do not want to show a folder, you can do it here.
  • Hidden file: if you do not want to show a file, you can do it here.
  • Allow using java: you can decide whether using java upload or not here.
  • Allow image resize: you can decide allowing image resize or not here.

NOTE: each user can upload files to her/his own folder only.
Administrators can see all folders.

 

This plugin allows administrator to manage testimonials to add them to the sidebar, as a widget, or to embed them into a Page or Post using the shortcode.  Testimonials Plugin allows you to include an image with each testimonial - this is a great feature for adding a photo of the testimonial author

PageFlex allows you to view and delete registered users and bulk enable/disable user accounts on your sites.

User Profile: this widget will show SignIn/SignUp links, or display profile of signed in user.
You can add this widget to layout in Theme Management.

Additional features can be programmed in so called plugins and be installed on PageFlex. On this feature, you can manage all the plugins in your website


Note: when you deactive a plugin, all its data will be removed also. So, please be careful.

The flexible structure of PageFlex will help you to install or config themes easily. Each theme can have its own options which help you change the style of theme instantly.

Theme Options

Each theme in PageFlex will have various options which help you to change the basic design of theme easily.
You can change following things:

 

 

Layouts

In Layouts, you create as many layout as you like.
Layouts will be used for Page
Each Page will use a particular layout.
Each layout can have many widgets. Drag&drop feature will help you create layouts easily.

Widgets

In widgets management, you can active or deactive any widgets.
Note: when you deactive a widget, it will not be shown in all layouts. So, please be careful.

PageFlex has 7 types of widget:

Footer

Footer will be used in all layouts. It means your modification in footer will be affected on all pages.

In Footer, you can also use widgets like layouts.

This is an important page of PageFlex which manage many things of the website.
This area is accessible only if you are logged-in as a member of Administrators group.
Once logged in, to access the page go to Admin MenuConfiguration.
 
There are 3 parts in Configuration:
  •  Setting
  •  Email templates
  •  Backup

Settings

This group of options control a miscellaneous collection of parameters that broadly control the behaviour of the public web pages of the PageFlex site.
Beside "General Settings", there are some settings of other plugins (User settings, Media settings, Post settings, 
Comment settings). In this section, we will describe about "General Settings" only, other settings will be described in their own sections.

General Settings

  • Site name: The name of the web site. This text provides an single-point of update of the site name and is frequently used by site templates as the header text of each web page
  • Site offline: This setting provides a means of putting a site offline to general users by changing the default setting of "No" to "Yes". If you choose "Yes", please choose the page will be displayed to general users in offline mode also.
  • Homepage: is the default page which will be displayed when users access your website.
  • Error page: is the page which will be displayed when users access a non-existence page.
  • HTML Charset: is the option which helps you to choose HTML charset of your site.
  • Main Menu: this is the main menu which will be displayed in every pages.
  • Backup Folder: is the folder which is used to store backup file in Backup/Restore.
  • Items per page: This sets the maximum number of items per page in lists displayed in various administration pages. By default, this parameter is set to 10 but may be changed to any of a number of values ranging from 10 to 200.
  • Timezone: Sets the time zone for use across the web site, based on a choice of capital cities. (default is "Europe/London")
  • Short date: Format of Short date
  • Long date: Format of Long date
  • Mailer: This sets the mechanism to be used when sending automatically generated emails. There are 2 options: "PHP Mailer" and "SMTP". The default setting is "PHP Mailer". If you choose "SMTP", please provide some following information:
    • Server
    • Port
    • Username
    • Password
    • SSL
  • Site meta keywords: Words and phrases (separated by commas) added here appear in web page headers as the “keywords” metadata entry
  • Site meta description: Text added here appears in web page headers as the “description” metadata entry
  • Site languages: This option allows you to choose which language will be displayed in administration page. PageFlex has 6 popular languages: English, Dutch, Spain, French, Japanese, Chinese.
  • Enable log: If this option is enabled, all error log of the website will be stored in /tmp/logs/. Default is "Yes".
  • Enable search: If you enable this option, a search box will be displayed on frontpage. At the moment, this search box works with Post titles only, so you have to create pages for post first. Default of this option is "Yes".
  • Google analytics: If you would like to use Google Analytics for your website, you can paste the analytic code here.
  • Enable reCAPTCHA: reCAPTCHA is a good way to prevent spam attempt. reCAPTCHA is used in:
    • Contact form
    • Password reset form
    • Sign up form
  • reCAPTCHA: If you use reCAPTCHA, please input the public and private key which you registered with reCAPTCHA.

 

Email Templates

The feature applies a HTML template to email sent from your website. The Template is applied for Users and Comments Plugins

Backup/Restore

The Backup/Restore feature ensures the proper backup of data from inside of PageFlex CMS. This feature provides immediate backup of your website database.

In this feature, you can do following actions:

Note: The default backup folder is /tmp/backup/. Please make that folder writable.

There are a lot of shortcodes in PageFlex CMS.

PageFlex Shortcode is very flexible so you can create page with any shortcode as you like.

Rating is a plugin which help user to rate any content of PageFlex.
Rating is added in Post by default.

However, you can add Raing in any page by using shortcode:

{pf:rating key='your-key'}

After installation is finished, config.php will be created (in /your-website/configs/)

This file stores your database connection information and some other setting.

We recommend you not to change anything on config.php. However, there are 2 settings which you may need to use:

This plugin will provide you the demo data which is shown in our demo website.

There are 2 important warnings:

We recommend you to use Demo Data right after your fresh installation.
If you have added any data, please backup them first.
